However, you cannot burn them, as such copper-based preservatives may produce toxic substance or ashes which can be harmful to the environment. It is essential to use gloves and mask for dust while handling pressure treated woods.
Using more amount of copper makes it more expensive
In order to make the new organic preservative little more effective, the content of copper has to be increased from 18 per cent to 96 per cent, which is really very substantial. Therefore, the cost of the pressure treated wood may increase by 15 to 35 per cent as compared to CCA lumber.
Therefore, in order to maintain the cost at reasonable level, manufacturers of these pressure treated woods will provide different kinds of protection so that it can be used for many other new applications. There will be special tags used for different variety of these woods where it will be mentioned about their end use. However, by looking at the dimension of these lumbers the users can easily decide where they are to be used.
Proper categorization of their application is still necessary so that people may not use for different kind of use and do not get right benefit out of them. In case if someone uses the wood meant for above ground for any moisture environment by mistake then the very purpose of using such pressure treated wood will be defeated.
